Solar Energy Technician


Job Summary:
 We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Solar Energy Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for managing service tickets, performing repairs and maintenance, conducting site feasibility assessments, and assisting with system commissioning as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, technically proficient, and confident in both fieldwork and customer-facing interactions.


Key Responsibilities:


Repairs & Maintenance


  • Manage all incoming service requests using Zoho Desk, from ticket creation to resolution.
  • Assign and prioritize service calls to ensure efficient response times.
  • Accurately document customer interactions, diagnostics, and completed resolutions within the ticketing system.
  • Generate and analyze reports on service trends to help improve system performance and reduce repeat issues.
  • Perform on-site diagnostics to troubleshoot underperforming systems and equipment.
  • Repair and replace faulty components such as inverters, solar panels, wiring, and other electrical parts.
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners to explain technical issues, repair timelines, and expected outcomes.
Site Feasibility & Data Collection

  • Conduct detailed on-site assessments of commercial properties to evaluate their suitability for solar installation.
  • Collect data including roof conditions, shading, electrical systems, and structural elements.
  • Perform preliminary analysis on interconnection feasibility and identify any required upgrades.
  • Document site conditions with high-quality photos and comprehensive field notes.
  • Provide early-stage technical input to design, engineering, and sales teams to streamline project development.
Commissioning Support

  • Assist with system commissioning activities when needed, ensuring systems are configured and activated properly.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure systems meet performance and safety standards.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in solar PV installation, maintenance, or service (commercial experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with Zoho Desk or similar CRM/ticketing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of solar energy systems, including inverters, racking, and electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • OSHA 10 (minimum) required; OSHA 30 and NABCEP certification a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients.
  • Comfortable with rooftop work and ladder use; must meet physical demands of the role.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Work Environment:
 This is a field-based role that includes both residential and commercial site visits, along with periodic office-based reporting. Travel within the service area is expected.

Compensation: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
