🌞 About Buffalo Solar

At Buffalo Solar, we’re more than just a solar company — we’re a tight-knit team on a mission to power 1,000 businesses across the Northeast in the next 10 years.

We specialize in high-quality commercial installations and are proud to be recognized as a Gold Quality Installer by NYSERDA. We hold ourselves to the highest standards in the industry — and that starts with hiring people who share our values:
Ambition. Knowledge. Willingness to Learn. Teamwork. Respect.

🛠️ About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on, driven Solar Field Technician who’s passionate about delivering exceptional service. In this dual-role position, you’ll split your time between:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing residential solar systems
  • Performing commercial solar site assessments to help scope and develop new projects
You’ll be in the field regularly, interacting with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams. You’ll also represent Buffalo Solar's commitment to quality, communication, and doing things the right way — every time.

🧰 What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on residential solar PV systems
  • Conduct on-site assessments for commercial solar projects—documenting conditions, taking measurements, and gathering photos
  • Communicate findings with project and design teams to ensure accurate proposals and plans
  • Serve as a point of contact for homeowners and subcontractors during service calls
  • Maintain clear, professional documentation of all visits and work performed
  • Support quality assurance and compliance with NYSERDA Gold Installer standards
  • Travel to job sites across the region as needed (some overnight travel may occur)

âś… What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in solar installation, service, or fieldwork (residential or commercial)
  • Familiarity with PV systems, inverters (e.g., Enphase, SolarEdge), monitoring platforms, and safety protocols
  • Ability to diagnose issues, think critically, and solve problems on-site
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism
  • Alignment with Buffalo Solar’s core values:
    • Ambition – You take initiative and ownership
    • Knowledge – You bring technical skill and are always building more
    • Willingness to Learn – You grow from challenges and feedback
    • Teamwork – You collaborate with integrity
    • Respect – You treat customers, partners, and teammates with care

🌟 Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Direct collaboration with leadership and the opportunity to have a real impact
  • A supportive team environment where your growth is prioritized
  • Diverse, hands-on work across both residential and commercial solar projects
  • The chance to build a career, not just a job — with a clear path to leadership, design, or operations roles
  • Help drive the Northeast toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy future
